The two Stages of leather

crust leather

Crust leather is semi-processed leather that has been tanned and dried but has not yet undergone finishing. It serves as the foundation for further processing. The crust preparation includes several key steps

Tanning:

Leather is stabilized in rotating drums using vegetable, aldehyde, and other tanning methods to prevent decay.

Samming:

Moisture is removed after tanning using rollers and machine pressure.

Shaving:

Machines adjust the thickness of leather for uniformity.

Re-tanning/ Dyeing:

Additional tanning agents are used in drums to enhance texture, flexibility, and color.

Setting:

The leather is stretched and smoothed mechanically to remove wrinkles and moisture.

Drying/ Vacuum drying:

Prepares the leather for finishing treatments.

finished leather

Finished leather undergoes additional processing to enhance its durability, aesthetics, and functionality. Various treatments refine its texture, appearance, and protective properties. Some key processes include

Buffing:

Smoothens or textures the leather surface.

Spray Plant Treatment:

Applies dyes, pigments, and protective coatings.

Molissa:

Softens and conditions the leather for a supple feel.

Milling:

Uses tumbling to enhance softness and create a natural grain.

Embossing:

Adds patterns or textures for aesthetic appeal.

Rotto Finishing:

A rotary printing process used to apply uniform dyes and coatings for enhanced appearance.
